This past weekend we embarked on our first adventure here in Honduras. We woke up bright and early on Saturday morning to hit the rapids and do some hiking in Pico Bonita Forrest.
Our adventure started when we swam up river and stopped at different rocks along the way and jumped off of them. Then we floated down river to our launching site for white water rafting.
Along the way the tour guide showed us a spider that was not poisonous but he said you could get a bad disease from it. To me that sounds like it’s probably poisonous to some degree. But I am not an expert so who knows.

I rarely post pictures of myself on my blog. I did not bring my camera so the girls were in charge of taking pictures.

I was the brave one and jumped off first.
This rapid earned the name the toilet bowl and it was the only class three on the river.
Getting stuck in the toilet bowl.

Getting unstuck from the toilet bowl. Having a river guide that speaks very little english was more challenging than navigating the toilet bowl.

There was fresh fruit waiting for us when we returned.

Starting off on our hike… this dog joined us for our three-hour hike. He was one of the coolest dogs I have ever met. He led the way the whole time and when we fell behind he would wait for us to catch up.
This reminded me of the bridge from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

I am so jealous. I wish I could be there. Looks like you are having a great time. I hope you are learning a lot of Spanish too.

I wish you and eric could be here… I am beginning to pick up on what people are saying but I am not so good at speaking yet. Hope all is well back home!

Looks good. If you can get to Rio Maria you should. Good river to just hang out in. Some good falls to ride down and pools to chill in. And I’m sure you found out the “chill” factor of the water!

We just had class at the Rio Maria on Thursday and spent the whole day there. It was awesome. Pics coming soon!

That is really awesome! Looks like a sweet day. I would love to do that!
