This issue of my tech journal is a step by step tutorial on installing Microsoft Security Essentials. Microsoft Security Essentials has been my anti-virus/spyware program of choice and best of all its free! This does not mean it falls short like other free programs. This works as good if not better as paid versions of other brand name software.

First step is to download Microsoft Security Essentials.

If you are unsure which version of Windows you are running right-click on My Computer and click properties. The information you need here is which version (Windows 7, Vista, or XP) and if you are running 32 bit or 64 bit.

Once the file is finished downloading open it and there will be three options and your selection must match the version of Windows you are running.

Click run to begin the install.

Click next
[frame]

Click I accept
[frame]

The program will begin to install the necessary files

Hit restart to finish the install
